GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora wrote a letter to Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal demanding more trains to facilitate people of Assam stranded in various States.

In his letter, Bora stated that there are 20 lakh people who are working in various other States of the country. He stated that there are only four trains which have been provided to transport people and it is not sufficient considering 20 lakh stranded migrant workers, students and other people of Assam. "The present provision of trains made available to Assam will not touch Kerala, Goa, Pondhicherry, Tamil Nadu (Chennai), Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, etc. where maximum numbers of people from Assam are stranded. So far only one Shramik Special Train has come from Bangalore to Guwahati and two Shramik Trains from Chennai to Guwahati which carried only 3,600 people approximately against several lakhs of people stranded there," Bora added.
