APCC observes betrayal day against price rise

GUWAHATI, May 29: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Tuesday observed the day as the day of betrayal against the failures of the BJP-led governments at Delhi and Dispur to keep its promises to check prices of essential commodities.

As part of the betrayal day leaders and workers of the APCC took out a bicycle rally in the city on Tuesday to highlight as the people have been hit hard by continuous rise in prices of petrol and diesel. The price of petrol on Tuesday reached at Rs 80.66 per litre from the Monday’s figure of Rs 80.49. The price of diesel per litre on Tuesday rise of 15 paise and reached at Rs 72.37.

Former chief minister Tarun Gogoi said the Narendra Modi government had made a complete u-turn on checking price rise after it came to power.

APCC president Ripun Bora said days are not far when it will be impossible for many people to buy even minimum essential commodities if prices of petrol and diesel are not checked at the earliest.

Many other senior Congress leaders including leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, MLAs Abdul Khaleque and Rekibuddin Ahmed joined the cycle rally.
