APCC President Ripun Bora Slams Government for Violating Child Rights

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora, while addressing the media on Saturday, said that the State Government’s decision to hand over the midday meal's responsibility to NGOs is “Tughlaqi”.

Slamming the government for violating education and child rights, Bora said, “The food that is served to the children are stale as they are pre-cooked a night before. This unhygienic food has sent many children to the hospital. The Supreme Court should hold a Sou Moto case against the State Government.”

“What is surprising is that out of the 15 NGOs, two are blacklisted and I fail to comprehend the reason for appointing such NGOs to provide food for children,” said Bora. The APCC president also said that they highly condemn the SPG security withdrawal of the Gandhi family and as such, a statewide protest will be held on November 11 in contempt of the decision.
