Artificial flood at Jorabat

GUWAHATI, June 25: The residents of Jorabat area along the NH-37 have to face the fury of artificial flood time and again allegedly due to the lackadaisical attitude of the local administration and the NHAI. Probing the allegation, hundreds of vehicles were struck on Monday at Jorabat after the arrival of a heavy shower. Notably, ever since the improvement of the NH-37 into a four lane one, this stretch has become prone to artificial flood allegedly due to unscientific method adopted by the NHAI. Consequently, the rsidents of 8 Mile, 9 Mile, and Jorabat has been the worst sufferers since then. Moreover, the earth cutting undergoing at the nearby hills of Meghalaya also contributing to the artificial flood as the siltation blocks the drainages and creates hindrance in smooth flowing of the rain water.
