ASCARD Bank employees staged protest against 'betrayal' of Government

Employees of the Assam State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development (ASCARD) Bank Limited staged a token hunger strike at their head office at Ulubari here on Wednesday against the 'betrayal' of the Government.

GUWAHATI: Employees of the Assam State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development (ASCARD) Bank Limited staged a token hunger strike at their head office at Ulubari here on Wednesday against the 'betrayal' of the Government.

Highlighting the plight of the workers, ASCARD general secretary Pradip Sarma in a release stated that the employees have not received their salary since last 15 years. "There are more than 300 people employed in the bank. During the period, over 150 employees have retired. However, they have not receive any retirement benefits," Sarma underlined.

He alleged that the ASCARD Bank has become a victim of 'negligence' of the State government.
