GUWAHATI: Asom Kala Kendra to organize statewide Bihuwa Samrat contests on April 10. Addressing a press meet here on Monday it was announced by the Kendra.
Addressing to the press, Bihu expert Dr. Prashanna Gogoi said, "For the first time in Assam to encourage the young generation we're going to organize the Bihuwa Samrat contest. The Bihuwa didn't get recognition from anyone they remain as an accomplishment.
At the initial stage we will face problems but we will continue this Bihuwa Samrat contest in the coming years also."
"It is very tough to get sponsorship for this type of competition. Had it been some kind of fashion shows we would have got many sponsors," stated Gogoi.
The Asom Kala Kendra also said that to give an honour to the ex-Bihuwas who remained unrecognized till today, every year it will give an award in the name of the ex-Bihuwas.
The registration for the Bihuwa Samrat contest will begin from April 1. The others present at the meeting include Bihu Samragi Gayatri Konwar, Bihuwa Nilakantha Dutta.
