Assam Book Fair to begin from December 29 in Chandmari

GUWAHATI: The Assam Book Fair will be held at the Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) Playground in Chandmari here from December 29 to January 9.

The 12-day event is being organized by the Publication Board, Assam in collaboration with the All Assam Book Publishers' and Booksellers' Association. The theme of the book fair has been based on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and over 110 book publishers and book sellers will be participating in the event. The organizers said that 10 publishers from Dhaka, 10 from Kolkata and 5 from Delhi would be participating in the book fair this year.

More than 50 books will be released in the book fair that will also feature several programmes like literary meets and Kavi Sanmilan. This is for the first time that a combined book fair has been held in Guwahati due to the current COVID-19 scenario. The organizers said that from next year, there will be two separate book fairs if the COVID situation improves.
