Assam Budget 2020-21: Mixed reactions from political parties

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: While the Opposition Congress has termed the State Budget 2020-21 as one the worst budgets presented in the Assembly, the AGP, an ally of the ruling BJP has asserted that it will touch all kinds of people in the State.

“It is one of the worst budgets. I have serious doubt about the Finance Minister’s claim on the growth rate of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). If there is so much growth rate of GSDP, the question arises about the vacancy of 55,000 government posts. It is a dream budget without any realistic goals,” former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said.

Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia said the budget has nothing new and alleged that many schemes of the previous budgets of the present government are yet to be implemented.”Many schemes of the present budget will remain in papers,” Saikia said while expressing doubt AGP president and cabinet minister Atul Bora said it is a people-oriented budget and all sections of people of the society will be touched by the budget.
