The proposed flyover is a four-lane one, which will start from Maligaon and end after crossing the Kamakhya Gate at Assam Trunk Road. It will have an extended arm to the road leading to Pandu Ghat. The estimated cost to construct the flyover is Rs. 383.72 crores. The Assam PWD (Roads) will construct the flyover under the 'State-Owned Priority Development (General) Scheme.' The target to complete this flyover is two years from the date of construction.

CM Sonowal said that the rapid infrastructure development in the city will make Guwahati the gateway of South East Asia. Under the State Capital Region Plan, Guwahati will be expanded from all the four sides, added Sonowal.

Guwahati has been included in the first round of Smart City Project by the Central Government indicates that both the State and the Central government aims to make Assam and Guwahati, the new engine of growth for the country.

He requested the people of the state to, maintain peace and unity for the timely completion of these projects. He also urged the people of Maligaon to be patient through the little hardships for the construction and wait for the completion of the new flyover.

Senior BJP leader Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the flyover will help in reducing the traffic, and will lead to the smooth movement of people and vehicles in the said areas.
