Assam: Dispur Police summons suspect of Hengrabari incident

GUWAHATI: Continuing the investigation regarding the recovery of the body of Anushka Saikia under mysterious circumstances from an apartment in Hengrabari, Dispur police summoned one of the suspects in the incident on Wednesday.

This development comes after the victim messaged him before the incident saying that she would commit suicide, but the person did not reply. It also involved a social media post made by the victim earlier and later deleted. Another key piece of information was the accusation made on Tuesday by Junu Bora, the domestic help, that the victim was involved in a quarrel with Rahul ahead of her death.

Previously, the victim’s mother had pointed her finger of suspicion at the house owner and the maid and mentioned that the boyfriend, who was previously mentioned as the main suspect, was not responsible as they were planning to get married soon. The victim’s mother mentioned that she could never take the drastic step to end her own life as she was a very brave and talented girl. She mentioned that the murder was part of a conspiracy hatched by the owner of the place, Ramesh Bharali, and the maid, Junu Borah. She also mentioned that the owner would often come knocking at her door at night. She also refuted that Rahul Hazarika could commit the same, as their marriage was almost fixed. He was previously considered the prime suspect in regard to the incident. With the police still carrying out the investigation, it remains to be seen if it was actually a suicide or a murder and who or what was the cause of the same.
