Whether it's a marriage ceremony or any other such event, large amounts of food goes to waste, much of it is perfectly edible and nutritious. With an initiative to check wastage of food, the Assam Electricity Regulatory Authority canteen has come up with a strict measure by imposing a fine of Rs 50 on employees who waste food.
"Wasting food after taking more than adequate amount will lead to penalty," stated a banner pasted on the canteen walls of the Assam Electricity Regulatory Authority.
Sources said the aim of the initiative is to reduce food waste and make the employees aware about the value of food. "People are following the rule and food waste has been drastically reduced in the canteen," the source added.
