Assam Government Announces Action Plan for Recruitment Of Persons with Disabilities

GUWAHATI, Aug 14: Assam Government's Social Welfare Department has announced an action plan with a timeline for special recruitment drive for the persons with disabilities. According to the announcement, the department will publish advertisements for the special recruitment drive within September 30 while the last date for submission of application forms is slated on October 22. Moreover, the data entry of application forms, issue of call letters and completion of tests, interviews for the posts, finalization and approval of lists of appointment will be completed within December 30. This was informed to The Sentinel by Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA) general secretary Nripen Malakar on Tuesday.

Notably, the PSSA along with Dristihin Parishad Assam (DPA) and Sadou Asom Dristihin Chatra Sangstha (SADCS) staged a joint protest in front of the State Secretariat, Dispur on July 27 following which a meeting was convened in the office chamber of the State’s Chief Secretary TY Das in presence of Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Chief Secretary TY Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Social Welfare Jishnu Baruah on August 2.

During that meeting, apart from other issues, recruitment of 4,419 backlog posts categorically reserved for the persons with disabilities were discussed. Accordingly, Minister Brahma in presence of the heads of various departments assured that an action plan would be announced within seven days.
