GUWAHATI: On the cusp of completion of one year in power of the incumbent BJP-led State Government on May 10, party spokesperson Muminul Aowal said on Saturday the this Government has been able to have an impact on the lives of all sections of people through its various development schemes.

He termed the Government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as "sensitive and compassionate."

Aowal further said that the State Government acted responsibly and resolutely in tackling anti-social activities. All sections of the State's populace have welcomed the Government's war on drug peddlers and drug abuse, he said.

Besides, Aowal said, people have also appreciated the Government's campaign against injustice and 'Dalal Raj' (reign of brokers) in the State.

He pointed out that the Government has also achieved "praiseworthy success" in resolving border disputes with neighbouring States.

Initiatives taken by the Government in the health sector are also having wide-ranging impact and the seven newly-inaugurated cancer hospitals have paved the way for making Assam the health-care hub of South East Asia, the BJP spokesperson observed.

The Government has also taken revolutionary steps to augment surface communication by lending a fresh impetus to building state roads as also roads and bridges under the PWD, he said. He said that works are on in full swing for construction of bridges to connect Jorhat-Majuli and Fancy Bazar-North Guwahati.

Moreover, the Government is fulfilling the needs of 8 lakh landless families through Mission Basundhara. It has already launched the process of recruiting 1 lakh people in various Government departments, he said.

Aowal claimed that the numerous successes of the Government have nullified the relevance of Opposition political parties. Opposition MLAs have also unanimously praised the achievements of the State Government, he said.
