Assam Government Set To Promote Khadi

GUWAHATI: With khadi losing its sheen, the Assam government has come forward to promote it. The State government earlier took a decision to provide khadi dresses to its employees. And now the government is going to implement the decision.

According to sources, the government is going to provide khadi shirts to male employees and eri chadors to female employees through the Khadi Board. The State government has allocated Rs 40 crore for this.

The khadi movement was at its peak under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji had visited Assam many time in connection with the movement.
