Assam Government To allots One Lakh Land Pattas To Landless Indigenous People

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has decided to allot one lakh land to landless indigenous people of the State.

The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has already instructed the deputy commissioners to start the process of selecting beneficiaries on the basis of eligibility criterion framed by the government.

In case of rural areas the deputy commissioners will be directly empowered to select beneficiaries and distribute pattas. But in case of urban areas the DCs will send the list of proposed patta holders to the Revenue and Disaster Management after getting it passed in the Land Advisory Committee.

The Revenue department will give the final seal of approval in case of selection of beneficiaries in urban areas.

During a conference of DCs and SPs held before publication of the final NRC, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal gave his verbal instruction to DCs to select genuine landless indigenous people to avail pattas. Allotment of land pattas to landless indigenous is one of the visions of Sonowal.
