GUWAHATI: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria chaired a reviewed meeting of the work done by multiple departments in the Kamrup (M) District. The meeting was organised on Monday at the auditorium of the Kamrup (M) DC office. Police Commissioner Diganta Barah and District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan attended this event, along with several other officials from multiple departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor told the officials to reach out to the citizens who qualify for various government projects but fail to get access to them. He also called on them to continue the process of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.

At the start of the review meeting, the police commissioner gave a presentation on the law and order situation in the state, and the governor stressed increasing the conviction rates, especially for crimes like rape, child abuse, murder, etc, the accused persons should not gain freedom because of legal loopholes.

The DC shed light on the work done by multiple departments. Comparing the conditions of the government schools with those of private ones, the officials ordered the officials from the education department to take necessary actions. Mentioning the difficulties faced in accessing the benefits of government schemes because of the lack of AADHAR cards, the governor ordered the setting up of additional centres for AADHAR registrations.

He also suggested the creation of infrastructure for shifting Anganwadi centres in case they are in rented places. He also spoke about the production of saplings and spreading awareness about blood donation, as well as the plantation of fruit-bearing and medicinal trees in schools.

The governor also ordered that the women selling vegetables be granted loans under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Scheme. He also suggested that the management of schools for well-to-do families of the localities and the minor expanses of the school be borne by these families. He also ordered that steps be taken to ensure 100 days of work for the labourers registered under MNREGA.
