Assam Governor hails IIT-G for promoting high-quality technical education

 GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said, “IIT Guwahati, through its state-of-the-art facilities, is making constant efforts to promote industry-academia collaboration, adopt startups and facilitate technology transfer. This effort itself is a testimony to its commitment to academic excellence and the cause of society.”

Addressing the students at the 25th convocation of IIT-G in presence of Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Governor Kataria said that capable of creating world-class infrastructure for its advanced research, IIT Guwahati has been able to meet the aspirations of the people of the north-eastern region to a great extent in just 25 years of its existence.

The Governor also said that the efforts made by IIT Guwahati for the implementation of NEP 2020 is noteworthy. The introduction of online degree programs would significantly increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio of students, the multiple entry and exit policy for students will benefit people for pursuing courses without leaving their jobs or homes, while providing an opportunity to attend classes conducted by IITs.

Kataria further said that education and degrees should not be limited only to the purpose of job rather it should nurture the tendency of social responsibility and service to the nation and humanity. It should be the medium of spreading the message of unity and integrity of the country. He also hailed IIT Guwahati for its role in championing the cause of high quality technical education with adequate focus on research and development. He also congratulated the successful graduates, especially the 406 female graduates on achieving their degrees from a centre of excellence, stated a press release.
