Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi Pays Rich Tributes To Netaji

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi led the State in paying rich tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on the occasion of the his122nd birth anniversary at a function held at Binovanagar LP School campus, Bhaskar Nagar here in the city on Wednesday.

The Governor while paying floral tributes to the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose said, “‘the valour of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose makes every Indian proud. We bow to this great personality on his Jayanti. The role of Subhash Chandra Bose in winning back India’s freedom is unparallel and the history speaks volumes about his efforts. Popularly known as Netaji, he was a man of great character and fortitude. He took the reign of India’s freedom movement and guided the nation towards independence.”

Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi also said that such was the towering personality Subhash Chandra Bose that everybody used to look up to him and his motivation speeches used to stir patriotic fervour in the freedom fighters. Of all the speeches he made, none was more popular than the ‘Give me blood, and I shall give you freedom’ that he had made in Burma in 1944 to members of the Indian National Army. Netaji was greatly influenced by Swami Vivekananda’s ideals of sacrifice and service.

To give rousing tributes to the leader, the Governor stressed on the need to work resolutely to materialize the dream of Netaji and lend everybody’s hands to fight against all types of injustice and root out corruption for the Nation to prosper and build a country of Netaji’s dream.

Padmashree Ajay Dutta, former MLA Robin Bordoloi, Freedom fighter Gopal Krishna Goswami along with a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion, a press release stated.
