GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi said that though the graph of coronavirus infection has shown the signs of flattening with no fresh cases of infection have been reported from any part of the state, the government should maintain its stringent guard to control and contain COVID-19 cases.

Taking stock of the COVID 19 situation in the State at a meeting held at Raj Bhavan today with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and other senior officers of different line departments, Governor Prof. Mukhi said that the timely intervention of the government and its uncompromising adherence to the lockdown protocols have helped to flatten the curve of infection. He, at the same hailed every frontline personnel as well as others especially the Health and Police department officials and attributed their dedication to break the chain of transmission in the State.

Prof. Mukhi expressed satisfaction that for the last 72 hours no new cases of infection have come up. He hailed all the agencies including North East Frontier Railways for their selfless role carried out during the lockdown period in facilitating relief and respite to the people riddled by coronavirus. He also urged them to continue their services in the days to come till rate of progression of active cases have been halted in the state, a press release said.
