

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Jagatguru Srimanta Sankardev's 575th birth anniversary, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria paid a visit to Srimanta Sankardev Sangha Kendriya Namghar in Rupnagar, Guwahati, on Sunday and prayed for all sections of society. In his address to the devout gathering, he stated the profound significance of Srimanta Sankardev and Srimanta Madhavdev in Assam's socio-cultural fabric, highlighting their pivotal roles in shaping the region's socio-cultural and spiritual ethos.
The Governor noted that Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev's teachings on Neo-Vaishnavism played a unifying role in Assam, fostering a sense of togetherness. He emphasized that Srimanta Sankardev's teachings also strengthen virtues like morality, character building, and spiritual uplift.
Governor Kataria also expressed hope that the blessings of Sankardev would inspire him to contribute positively to the development of Assam. Furthermore, he highlighted the responsibility of religious institutions to guide individuals towards spirituality and help them realise the essence of their ancestral heritage, stated a press release.
