Assam Health Department to Conduct Doorstep Vaccination Drive for Distinguished Persons

GUWAHATI: Door to Door COVID-19 Vaccination in Assam: The Health and Family Welfare Department has decided to conduct a month-long special vaccination drive for eminent personalities in the State from June 1.

In this regard, Principal Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Anurag Goel has directed all the deputy commissioners to prepare a micro plan to conduct a special drive for doorstep vaccination of such noted persons.

"…We have many distinguished persons residing in our State who have contributed immensely for bringing name and fame to the State in the field of arts, culture, literature, language, sports, etc. Further, many of them may senior citizens with mobility issues and may be suffering from critical illness or maybe having co-morbidities which might prevent them from getting vaccinated for COVID-19," stated Goel in a letter to all the deputy commissioners.

For this purpose, the Joint DHS (Directorate of Health Services) and Additional Chief Medical & Health Officer (Family Welfare) of all the districts will arrange a vehicle/ambulance/mobile medical unit to carry out the vaccination drive for this category of beneficiaries. Such vehicles will have all essential medical equipment and manpower to manage and transport the beneficiary in case of an Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI).

To avoid vaccination wastage, a route map should be prepared by the respective district administrations and beneficiaries are to be bundled in multiples of ten or twenty.

The Principal Secretary has directed the deputy commissioners to complete the assam vaccination drive within the period from June 1 to 30. He has also asked the deputy commissioners to submit a weekly report in this regard to him and the Director of Health Services (FW), Assam.
