Assam Health Dept directs Kamrup (M) police stations to form quarantine management committees

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Health and Family Welfare department in an order has directed all the police stations under the Kamrup (Metro) district to constitute a Police Station Level Quarantine Management Committee.

Further, the Commissioner of Police will nominate a senior police officer not below rank of Additional DCP for every police district in City Guwahati, who will closely monitor and supervise the functioning of the Police Station Level Quarantine Management Committee in close coordination with District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kamrup (Metro) and Health & FW Department.

The officer will also collate the Home Quarantine data of each Police Station jurisdiction and furnish data Police District wise to Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) regularly. DC, Kamrup (Metro) will direct Circle Officers to coordinate with concerned agencies for smooth management of the entire quarantine measures and also nominate a senior officer as Nodal Officer to coordinate/ liaise with all concerned in this regard.

The committees will constitute of the Officer in charge of local Police Station who will be the Incident Commander.

Two members of Local Nagarik Committee nominated by Incident Commander Member, two members of Apartment Societies/ residential societies etc. nominated by members Chairperson of the Societies.

Three MPWs deputed by Health & FW Dept who will report to Incident Commander and ASHAs nominated by DC, Kamrup (Metro).

The committee will also have, Lot Mandal/Boot Level Officer nominated by DC, Kamrup Member (Metro), Pratirudhi volunteers under DDMA/ NGOs/ socio- cultural organizations etc and other member as deemed fit by Incident Member Commander

Further the Incident Commander will perform the following responsibilities along with other Members of the Committee:

Declaration of home quarantines with help of the Committee members after getting details from Kamrup (Metro) administration. Keep close vigil on persons under home quarantine with his police force and Committee members. Monitor adequate supply of food items for the quarantined family by the Committee, which will be provided by district administration.

Maintain data of home quarantined persons with help of data entry operator provided by Kamrup (Metro) district administration. The data would, inter-alia, facilitate timely release from home quarantine. Monitor surveillance activities by Health & FW Department staff. Activate the Village Defence Parties/ Civil Defence members. Home & Political Department will provide ten Home Guards to each Police Station in Guwahati city to augment the manpower resources of Incident Commander.
