Assam Journalist Arrested on Charges of Blackmailing Cop's Wife

Guwahati, Aug 12: Azad Jakaria, a journalist by profession, was arrested by Noonmati Police on Saturday. As per sources, Jakaria was trying to blackmail the wife of a policeman while demanding Rs 4 lakh. It is also alleged that on being unable to pay, the accused to molest the woman. He was caught by the locals who handed him over to the police. A case ( case no 473/18 us 354/384/347/506 IPC) has been registered in the Noonmati PS against the accused. He was produced in the court on Saturday and was remanded to judicial custody by the court.
