Assam Panchayat Polls: Mud-slinging marks campaign

GUWAHATI: Political mud-slinging has been started as the Panchayat election is nearing in the State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the AICC fired at the BJP saying that almost three years that has been ruled by it has become only a failure on its part. There is no government in the state but only a group of mobile theatre is present in its name, the statement added.

Hitting back at the Congress, the BJP stated that mobile theatre in Assam has a glorious past. People who are the pride of Assamese nation like Bishnu Rabha, Dr Bhupen Hazarika were too once associated with this medium of art and bringing its name to politics just shows how low the mentality of Congress is. While in power, the Congress had nearly destroyed the Panchayat and Village development system so they have no right to criticize BJP when the system is being rebuilt by the current government after the long years of abuse by Congress rule, the statement added further.

Political blame game has become the main area of focus among political parties for the incoming Panchayat elections that is scheduled to be held on 5th and 9th December. The problem of the commoners, it seems, is not hogging limelight in the campaign.
