Assam police bags award from Government of India

GUWAHATI: Assam police has been awarded by the government of India for implementation of good practices under Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) project. The award has been given for citizen centric service delivery where Assam police has automated Passport Police Verification (PPV) and PRC services using online CCTNS system to benefit the citizen. The other best practices which Assam police has launched to track Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases using management dashboard. Earlier, manual passport police verification used to take considerable amount of time which has been reduced to 7 to 21 days as per passport service requirements. Similarly for PRC, the student need not submit the police verification separately which was delaying the issuance of the PRC on timely basis. Notably, Anil Kumar Jha, Spl. DGP, CID and State Nodal Officer was awarded for his outstanding contribution towards the implementation of CCTNS project in Assam, a communiqué said.
