GUWAHATI: Outgoing Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta's commendable and praiseworthy career as police officer came to an end today. The outgoing DGP was given a farewell parade today.

Mahanta said that Assam Police was a "philosophy" for him. "I will continue to be a part Assam Police as it is a philosophy, a way of life," he said and added that he would salute the Assam Police.

The outgoing DGP exuded confidence that if Assam Police continued to improve its efficiency and discipline, it would surely become one of the top police forces in the country, like Telangana Police. "No one will be able to stop us," he said.

Talking about the newly-appointed DGP GP Singh, Mahanta said, "I have held talks with him about the problems faced by our State and how to solve them.
