GUWAHATI: The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has decided to constitute the DLEC (District Level Election Committee) to monitor the town and municipal elections which are to be held shortly. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the APCC on Wednesday.

The meeting also decided that the DCC (District Congress Committee) president will empanel a three-member list after due consultation with the block presidents, former contestant candidates and senior leaders of the respective districts for the ensuing municipal elections.

The APCC also sought suggestions from the attending presidents to formulate working guidelines for the party as well.

The APCC held the conference of all DCCs (District Congress Committees) of the State to formulate a working principle of the INC (Indian National Congress), Assam.

At the beginning of the meeting, APCC general secretary (Admn), Apurba Bhattacharya explained the objective of the meeting. Amongst others who participated in the discussion were Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and former APCC president Ripun Bora; working presidents Rana Goswami, Jakir Hussein Sikdar, former MP (Rajya Sabha) Dwijen Sarma, and former Minister Nur Jamal Sarkar.

Before the meeting, the APCC president Bhupen Borah along with other dignitaries and office bearers paid glowing tributes to Sudhakontho Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his birth anniversary, stated a press release.
