Assam Pradesh Congress Committee seeks steps to collect certain votes from homes

GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has requested the Assam State Election Commission (SEC) to initiate measures to ensure that even infirm persons, senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwDs) are able to vote in the elections to various municipal boards of the State on March 6.

In a letter to the SEC, the APCC stated that special arrangement ought to be made so that all eligible voters are enabled to exercise their franchise on the day of elections, in spite of lack of mobility on their part.

The APCC requested the SEC to direct the district electoral departments to take steps for collecting the votes of these categories of voters from their homes.
