Assam Special Police Officers' Welfare Society (ASPOWS) To Stage Protest on Sept 25

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Demanding regularization of their posts, Assam Special Police Officers' Welfare Society (ASPOWS) will stage an agitation on September 25 at Dispur Last Gate. Alleging the Sonowal Government for showing negligence and spoiling the lives of special police officers, ASPOWS additional Secretary Nareswar Kumar Nath said, “We are bound to take the agitation programme because of the continuous negligence showed by the government in solving our miseries. By keeping our lives in danger, we worked to establish peace in those sensitive areas that permanent forces like CRPF, BSF, SSB, APBN etc do not want to go. The SPOs succeed in bringing a peaceful environment in those areas but their own life became pitiable, as, they become the victim of the strategy played by the government and thrown out from their job after five years. Now that most of us have crossed the age limit, we are not fit to apply for another job.”

President Abdur Rashid said, “We want to warn the state government that we will take extreme measures like blocking the national highway or our protest may turn more sensitive if the government does not take initiative to directly appoint 1214 SPO soldiers in the upcoming Assam Police Constables recruitment.” Appealing all the SPO soldiers who worked in BTAD and Dima Hasao to join in the agitation ASPOWS also put a hint that the situation may take an unwanted turn and the Chief Minister will be responsible for any kind of untoward incident.
