Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) decides not to cooperate with Shiksha Setu programme

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) decided that until the creation of the post of headmaster in government schools, they would not be cooperating with Project Siksha Setu. They had an executive meeting regarding this in Guwahati on Sunday.
In the meeting, ASPTA welcomed the huge step taken by the state government to enhance qualitative education through the Shiksha Setu programme. But from May 2, without the creation of posts for the government headmasters, ASPTA will not be cooperating with the Siksha Setu programme. The executive meeting also decided that if the creation of headmaster posts is not ordered until May 21, then the tablets that were provided for Project Siksha Setu will be returned to the block education officer.
Taking to the media, ASPTA general secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami said that on December 17, 2020, the Education Department decided that the senior assistant teachers would be upgraded to the post of headmaster in order to increase their financial assistance. But the finance department ignored the decision of the education department. That decision has already been made for three years, and one department is ignoring the other’s decision.
The Chief Minister too commented on the creation of the post of headmaster, but no difference is seen. Even though there is no such post as headmaster, the education department still gives a lot of work to the schools.
