GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers' Association (ASPTA) has announced that if its various demands are not met by the State Government within December 31 next, then its members will not participate in the Gunotsav 2023.
This decision was taken at the executive meeting of the ASPTA here on Sunday.
ASPTA secretary-general Ratul Chandra Goswami said in a statement that today's meeting primarily discussed three demands of the association. These included creation of headmasters/headmistresses' posts in primary schools, restoration of the monthly deduction of Rs 8,700 from the Grade Pay of graduate teachers and regularization of the services of contractual teachers and grant of due benefits to them.
Goswami said that the ASPTA will soon dispatch letters regarding these demands to the Chief Minister, local MLAs and the secretary of the Primary Education Department. Subsequently, the ASPTA will collect the signatures of all primary school teachers of the State and submit fresh memoranda to the Chief Minister, Education Minister and secretary of the Primary Education Department.
In case of failure to redress their grievances, after January 1, 2023 the ASPTA members will not cooperate in any activity associated with Gunotsav 2023, Goswami said.
