The NEC funds various development projects in Assam and other States of the Northeast.

According to the statistical report, in the past five years, the NEC released Rs 185.08 crore to Assam. Rs 98.04 crore of the amount remained unspent till March 31, 2021. The State Government is yet to submit utilization certificates of 39 projects amounting to Rs 51.62 crore.

The Ministry of DoNER's statistical report further said that in the last 17 years the NEC sanctioned 211 projects for Assam amounting to Rs 1955.45 crore. While 125 of the projects costing Rs 1205.63 crore were completed, 86 other projects costing Rs 749.82 crore are still going on.
