Banana, milk destroyed

GUWAHATI, June 12: The food safety officials in its continued drive against unsafe food on Tuesday seized and destroyed 192 clusters of banana from Hengrabari area of Guwahati allegedly for using harmful calcium carbide to artificially ripe the banana. At the same time, the team also destroyed 50 liters of substandard milk. During the drive, the officials were accompanied by Pijush Hazarika, Minister of State for urban development (excluding town and country planning) and health and family welfare.
