‘Barak is an integral part of Assam’

GUWAHATI, July 12: “Barak is an integral part of Assam. There is no separation between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. Neither have we ever wanted separation,” said Anup Chetia. Chetia, the Chief Convener of the North East Indigenous People’s Forum (NEIPF) said this while addressing the reporters in Guwahati on Thursday. Observing critically on the present imbroglio created out of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Chetia however indicated that certain people with their vested interests are trying to provoke the situation and taking advantage by separating the age-old relation shared by the people of these two valleys.
