GUWAHATI: Over 4.6 lakh people have applied for land settlement under Basundhara 2.0 till this evening. The Chief Minister launched this mission on November 14, 2022.

According to Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) sources, the number of applicants under this mission may exceed the seven-lakh mark as over two months are still to go. The last date for applying under this mission is March 31 this year. According to officials, Mission Basundhara 2.0 poses a bigger challenge to the department than Mission Basundhara. Giving land settlement on PGR (Professional Grazing Land), VGR (Village Grazing Land), and up to 50 bighas of land settlement to eligible tribal people is indeed a Herculean task. All these need large-scale ground and office verifications. The department has taken the job with a mission mode to complete it by November 14 this year.

Initial works for the disposal of the application under the mission have started.
