Beauticians seek Assam government's permission to reopen

GUWAHATI: The Wellness and Parlour Association, Assam on Wednesday claimed that around 2 lakh people associated with the profession are going to lose their employment in the coming days.
Addressing a press meet here at Six Mile on Wednesday, the Association urged the government to allow them to operate licensed saloon and beauty parlour by following the guidelines issued by the government.
The Association president, Achinta Pran Sarmah said that the industry that has faced the most crucial situation during lockdown, as there are over 2 lakh people in Assam associated with this profession. He said, "The major issue is that we need large rooms for the saloons and there are around 10-15 employees in a saloon. Salary has become a huge problem for us. Electricity bill and rent adds to our crisis." Sarmah claimed that the expiry date of the products that the saloons had in stock before announcement are going to expire soon and the companies will not accept returns.
Hence the association appealed the government to take necessary measures to waive off the rent and electricity bill to be paid by the parlours for the lockdown period.
