Bhabendranath Saikia memorial drama festival to commence from February 20 to 22

GUWAHATI: Aarohan (Bhabendra Nath Saikia Children Welfare Trust) is all set to organize the Bhabendranath Saikia Memorial Drama Samaroh, 2020 and Dr. Bhabendranath Saikia Memorial Award Ceremony from February 20 to 22 at the Rabindra Bhawan.

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday, the officials of the trust said that a life-size statue of Dr. Bhabendranath Saikia will be inaugurated on the occasion of his 88th birth anniversary, by chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna at Aarohan premises.

The trust said that Dr. Lakhinandan Bora, who will attend the occasion as the chief guest, will confer the Dr. Bhabendranath Saikia Memorial Award 2019 to promising poet Manika Das. The award ceremony on February 20 will be followed by different cultural programmes. The Drama Night on February 21 and 22 will be inaugurated by renowned actor Nilu Chakraborty and Pritam Saikia. It is to be mentioned that INLI foundation will perform the play Tadanta which is the Assamese adaptation of J.B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls by Dr. Bhabendranath Saikia.
