GUWAHATI: The aim of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is to end the role of middlemen to benefit and develop the weaker sections of society, said state BJP chief spokesperson Manoj Baruah.

Baruah said, “Under the BJP-led government, there has been all-around development in the state. People of all ethnic groups residing in hills and plains have seen development in all spheres. Lakhs of economically weaker sections of women have been benefited by schemes like microfinance loan waivers, Orunodoi, etc. Under the government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, under the Orunodoi scheme, many women have received Rs. 1,250 monthly. Earlier, under the Orunodoi scheme, women used to receive Rs 1000, which has increased to Rs 1250. Currently, about 18.7 lakh women in the state benefit from the scheme. By November, 6.88 lakh women will be included under the scheme, making it a total of 26 lakh women.”

Baruah further said that “under the Orunodoi scheme, weaker sections of women have benefited financially. And it is quite rare that women receive this amount in their bank accounts every month. During the rule of Congress, there were middlemen who ruled these schemes, depriving the beneficiaries of the schemes.
