GUWAHATI: The Bhumi Adhikar Sangram Samiti, Assam (BASSA) has decided to vote against the BJP-led alliance in this general election so as to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
The BASSA had its special general meeting in Guwahati on Sunday. Meeting decided that 30 lakh indigenous families, including 85,000 such families in Guwahati, will vote against the BJP for betraying the people in providing land pattas. BASSA president Prabinjyoti Kalita said at the meeting: “The government is playing a dirty politics in the issuance of land pattas to 30 lakh indigenous families in the State. Before the panchayat poll, the government provided land pattas to a selected few and some of BJP members in Guwahati. We’re out to give a befitting reply to the BJP for its betrayal.”
