BIEO arrests one in bank fraud case in Bongaigaon

GUWAHATI: The BIEO (Bureau of Investigation Economic Offences) has arrested one Manik Chandra Nath in connection to a bank fraud case. Nath is a Sales Development Officer of HDFC Life Insurance, Bongaigaon branch.

According to reports, he was a guarantor in a loan of Rs 29 lakh which was fraudulently taken by one Kuntal Hazarika alias Dhurbajyoti Talukdar from the Punjab & Sind Bank. In this regard, Punjab & Sind Bank zonal manager had lodged an FIR at the BIEO on November 28, 2019, based on which a case (19/2019 u/s (B)/420/406/409/419/468/471 IPC) was registered. The police said that Nath took an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh from Hazarika to become the guarantor.
