BJP-AGP Busy in strategy for Mission 100+ in 2021

GUWAHATI: During the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation in the State the BJP and the AGP are mainly at the receiving end, facing criticism of all hues from different organizations and professional groups. However, the two allies keep themselves busy with the strategy to make their target of mission 100+ in 2021 a reality along with the BPF (Bodoland People’s Front).

The mission 100+ was set soon after the BJP winning nine seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in which the BJP, AGP and the BPF had an alliance.

According to sources, unofficial talks have already started between the AGP and the BJP at the primary level. Matters like party-wise winning prospects of the Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) etc have already come up for discussion between the two parties. According to sources, the BJP has realized the fact that a few of its MLAs are not as active as they should have been. Likewise, the AGP leadership has also felt that a few of the party MLAs are vocal against the party policies and decisions and they raise such issues before the media, instead of raising them in party fora.

Talks are also afoot that a few LACs currently held by the BJP may be given to the AGP to field and the vice versa.

NEDA (North East Democratic Alliance) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma went on record reiterating recently that the ruling coalition’s Mission 100+ in 2021 Assembly poll in the State is very much intact.
