GUWAHATI: The AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) is confident that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) will face defeat in front of the 'Mahajoot' in the ongoing polls.

In a statement, AIUDF general secretary Haider Hussain Borah said that the saffron party is afraid after sensing defeat in the first phase of polls held in 47 constituencies.

"The BJP will get an opposite result in the first phase as it got in the 2016 polls in upper Assam. There was no BJP wave in the polls and the party was only busy in spreading false propaganda in Upper Assam against Badruddin Ajmal. However, the people have rejected the false narratives against Ajmal," said Borah.

He alleged that the BJP was using Ajmal as a tool to cover its failure in implementing the promises it made before coming to power.

"The party has not implemented even a single promise in the last five years. To cover this failure, they are using Ajmal. Not only State leaders but also the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and BJP president was spreading false narratives against Ajmal to mislead the people," said Borah.

Further, he opined that the people have lost faith in the 'party of liars'.

"In the second and third phases of the polls on April 1 and 6 respectively, the people will vote in support of the grand alliance. It is evident that the BJP will be rooted out from power," Borah added.
