GUWAHATI: AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) general secretary (organization) Aminul Islam has stated that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) played cheap politics by promising to waive the microfinance loans of the people.
"During the campaign, they promised to waive the loans. However, now they have introduced some conditions for the waiver. The government deceived lakhs of women who were hoping that the former will rescue them," said Islam.
He underlined that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formed a committee under the leadership of Minister Ashok Singhal to waive the loans. However, the committee has set criteria for the microfinance waiver due to which very few people will be benefitted, he added. The AIUDF demanded that the loans should be waived unconditionally as promised by the government.
