GUWAHATI: Inspired by the famous quote 'it is always better to light a candle than to blame the darkness', prominent guide and mentor to almost all the established entrepreneurs of Assam-cum-retired Additional Director of Industries and Commerce Prafulla Kumar Saikia made his mission possible with the publication of an 158-page book in English "Our Stories-Our Entrepreneurs, Our Pride". Published by SS Graphics of Guwahati, the book was released at a function here on Sunday by retired Special Director General of Police Pallab Bhattacharyya, accompanied by Chairman of FINER Pabitra Burhagohain, Nekib Hussain, Binod Lohia and Additional Director of Industries & Commerce Bipul Das and others.

The author Prafulla Kumar Saikia narrating his experience with the entrepreneurs of the state said that originally he has written on his Facebook wall with the caption "Our Entrepreneurs- Our Pride covering the achievements of the successful entrepreneurs. "While visiting other states of India, I noticed that people have no knowledge of the achievements made by the entrepreneurs of Assam. That is the reason why I have decided to publish the book that too in English", added Prafulla Kumar Saikia.

A prominent entrepreneur Nekib Hussain taking part in the function described the mentality of Assamese people with a 'earn money and enjoy' attitude as very unfortunate while the businessmen from other states were maintaining only an 'earn money attitude'. He also firmly asserted that no one can prosper in life while living in the comfort zone. Significantly, Binoda Lohia in his address offered a suggestion to make a PhD thesis on the topic 'how the non-Assamese business communities particularly the Marwaris are earning money and prosperity which will be an eye-opener to the Assamese youth'.

Mention may be made here that this book contains the achievements of a total of 158 entrepreneurs of the state of which 66 are women and seven are a couple. Prafulla Kumar Saikia is hopeful to cover the remaining entrepreneurs in his next series of books.
