GUWAHATI: The water level of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati has crossed the danger level again and is scaling newer level in each passing hours.

CWC (Central Water Commission) official Sarat Chandra Kalita said that the water level of the Brahmaputra crossed the danger level on Sunday morning in Guwahati. As on Tuesday, the river was flowing at 50.72 meters at 6 am and flowing at 50.77 meters at 6 pm against the danger mark of 49.68 meters.

The river has been maintaining a rising trend since July 7, 2020, said Kalita.

Meanwhile, the overflowing water of the Lachit Ghat at Fancy Bazar is on the verge of submerging the main roads. On the other hand, the Lord Vishnu statue at the famous Chakreshwar Temple in Kalipur has been almost submerged by the dangerously swelling Brahmaputra River.
