Brahmaputra Overflowing: NDRF Battalion evacuated 258 villagers

GUWAHATI: Teams of 1st NDRF Battalion evacuated 258 marooned villagers and transported them to safer places in Kamrup, Bongaigaon and Golaghat districts in the State in the past one week. Overflowing of the Brahmaputra, the Puthimari and the Aie rivers led to the inundation of many villages in these three districts. A press statement issued by the NDRF said that its teams of rescuers have been assisting the district administrations in distribution of mask, screening inundated areas and maintaining proper social distancing due to COVID-19 emergency. More than 1,250 marooned villagers were evacuated this year monsoon season by 1st Battalion NDRF, Guwahati, a press release said.
