BSF celebrates 53 years of service to the Nation

GUWAHATI: BSF completes sterling 53years in the service of the Nation on December 1. The force is celebrating its 54th Raising Day to commemorate this historic milestone. The country’s history will record the contribution of the First Wall of Defence (India’s First Line of Defence) i.e. BSFs valour, sacrifices and utmost dedication to the motherland in golden words.

The Guwahati Frontier, Border Security Force was established on October 1, 2011. The Area responsible for Guwahati Frontier was carved out from North Bengal and Meghalaya Frontier comprising an area of 509 km out of which 362 km falls under West Bengal and 147 Km under Assam Frontier. Guwahati Frontier BSF has three Sector HQrs at Coochbehar(WB), Falakata(WB) and Dhubri(Assam). Besides its primary role of guarding India’s IB during peace time, including prevention of trans-border crimes, the Force has been rendering yeoman’s service in maintaining law and order in aide to civil authorities of the states, helping citizens of India during natural calamities, fighting against militancy, NRC duty in Assam and Election duty in various parts of the country including Naxal affected areas. The Guwahati frontier organized cultural programmes and a customary Barakhana in which all the Force personnel of Guwahati Frontier including retirees of the Force and 1stBn NDRF participated. Rakesh Aggarwal, Inspector General, BSF Guwahati Frontier, while addressing, conveyed his best wishes and the message of DG BSF to all BSF personnel on this Red letter day. He exhorted them to keep the flag of the Force flying high and motivated them to follow the ethos of the Force which fulfils the expectations of people. IG, BSF Guwahati Frontier also felicitated families of Martyrs on this occasion.
