GUWAHATI: A Burmese rock python was rescued by a wildlife expert named Wamtajul Islam, a resident of Nabajyoti Nagar in Panjabari here, from the Shilpgram North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) campus here on Tuesday. According to a press release, the Director of NEZCC, Dr Prashanna Gogoi handed over the python, which weighed around 20 kg, to officials of the Panjabari Forest Beat office in presence of officials of both organizations.

The Shilpgram campus is situated in a very eco-sensitive forest area which is near the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara. Many wild animals and migratory birds are frequently seen there.
