GUWAHATI: Kolgash (flower pot) is notorious for burn injuries during the Diwali every year in the State. And this is backed by statistics of ten years since 2010 when around 73.5 per cent of the burn injuries during Diwali are from Kolgash. Addressing the media on Thursday, on behalf of Burn Care Foundation of a City Hospital Dr. Hitesh Baruah said, "We've been carrying out a drive to ensure safe Diwali. Firecrackers are notorious for causing burn injuries, apart from air and noise pollution. If firecrackers are stopped in Diwali celebrations, 75 per cent of Diwali-related burn injuries will fall. "Firecrackers may harm us in various ways – they may cause mental disorder, nerve disorder, heart attack, skin eruptions, cancer, lungs and asthmatic problem."
