CBIC Chairman M. Ajit Kumar briefs professionals on GST

GUWAHATI: CBIC Chairman M. Ajit Kumar on February 28 interacted with the members of Trade and Industry as well as professionals in the field of indirect taxes at GST Bhawan, Guwahati. The members of the trade & professionals raised various issues relating to the GST regime and Budgetary Support Scheme.

The Chairman, while addressing their concerns, stated that most of the issues are policy related on which the GST Council and Commerce Ministry are required to take decisions. Some issues falling within the purview of the local office were redressed. In respect of other policy issues, he stated that he would resolve the same after a proper study of the issues involved. He also informed the house that commencing from 01.03.2020 to 15.03.2020, all officers in the CGST offices across the seven states of North East will be available from 4 pm to 6 pm on all working days to attend to the grievances of the taxpayers and resolve the issues. He requested them to make use of his opportunity.

As regards the delay in budgetary support disbursal, he informed that since the fund for this scheme are to be sanctioned by Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, he assured them that he will take up the issue with DPIIT. He also requested all concerned to give their issues in writing to have a better clarity and appreciation of the same and to take up with the appropriate authority, a press release said.
